Mazzy, a Toronto-based DJ and producer, seamlessly blends his deep house roots into all his productions. With a passion for electronic music that runs deep, Mazzy has made a name for himself in the underground scene. His tracks have been featured on Boosted Music, showcasing his talent and unique sound to a global audience. Supported by fellow DJs in Toronto, Mazzy continues to captivate listeners with his infectious beats and innovative productions, solidifying his place in the electronic music community.

Hey! I'm Heather, AKA HEATER. I have had the privilege to play at various venues across Toronto like Silver Dollar Room @ CZ, Nomad, Big Trouble, Forbidden City to name a few. I've released one track as a producer and am making more. I have to say, I would not be where I am so quickly, without the help of amazing community and mentorship. This is why programming for this bootcamp is so near and dear to me. 

I am bringing in my expertise in program management to ensure you have the best learning experience possible throughout the bootcamp. 

Production Bootcamp Syllabus

Class 1: Intro to Ableton

In this class, you will learn about how to make your own tracks by learning the basics of the software that has revolutionized electronic music creation and performance.  Get comfortable navigating Live's unique interface, learn to trigger multiple tracks on the fly, and build your own song from scratch. 

 

 

Class 2: Composition

In this class, you will polish your beats & instrumentation by narrowing in on a crucial aspects of your sonic identity: composition. Through a series of sketches and experimentation we'll hone in on structural aspects of a variety of genres and breakdown the techniques used to seamlessly transition from one section of your song to the next. You'll be exposed to a variety of approaches to arrangement, composition and storytelling techniques.

 

 

 

Class 3: Song Structure 

In this class, we will talk about song structure. We will dive deeper into how most songs are structured, and what are the key characteristics or elements of each part of a song. We will also talk about how to transition between different sections of a song. 

 

Class 4: Sound Choices

In this class, we will talk about sound choices. With a focus on sampling, midi instruments, effects, and leveling - we'll focus on refining your sound to give it clear definition. We will explore ways of creating tension and drama in your music. We will also talk about what type of sounds work well together. 

 

Class 4: Mixing 

Mixing is a precise and technical craft that plays an incredibly important role in bringing the most out of your compositions. In this class, you will learn about how to balance out the various instrumentations within your track - and how you can bring out the best frequencies within them.

Class 5: Mastering

Mastering brings out warmth and character to your tracks. In this class we'll start polishing your rough mixes by examining the essentials of Volume, Panning, EQing, Compressions, Limiting, and important FX such as Reverb, Auto Pan, Delays and several micro details that will enhance your creative vision and prepare you for Mastering.
